Description

The decorative grille is constructed with alternating straight and twisted vertical iron bars, repeated circular motifs and rows of small cast finial details. Particularly noteworthy is the original construction: the grille is hinged within its substantial rectangular iron frame and retains its locking mechanism, allowing the guard to swing open for access to the window while providing security when closed.

The iron retains an excellent dark, naturally aged surface with oxidation, wear and traces of its earlier finish. The combination of decorative ironwork and functional construction is characteristic of the quality architectural metalwork found throughout Chicago during the early 20th century.

A strong piece of Chicago architectural salvage that can be displayed as found or repurposed as an interior architectural feature, decorative grille or garden element.

Great for a decorative wine cellar door, unique window covering, etc.
