Description
Recently acquired from private collection in Vancouver.
A beautifully timeworn 19th century Canadian farm table, crafted in solid pine with a rich, naturally aged surface.
The rectangular plank top shows decades of authentic use — visible shrinkage lines, old surface cracks, tool marks and a warm, burnished patina that only comes from generations of daily life. The top’s thickness and softened edges give it a grounded, substantial presence.
The base is straightforward and sturdy, with square tapered legs joined by simple stretchers. A shaped apron adds a subtle touch of vernacular charm without unnecessary ornamentation — a hallmark of rural Canadian craftsmanship where function led design.
The original darkened finish on the base contrasts beautifully with the lighter, worn top, highlighting its honest construction and agricultural roots.
