Description
A late 19th century painted pine trestle table, likely French Canadian or Northeastern North American, dating to circa 1890.
Constructed from wide old-growth pine planks, the top shows beautiful natural shrinkage, surface oxidation, and honest wear consistent with over a century of use. The trestle base features distinctive circular cut-outs — a subtle folk detail that gives the piece sculptural presence without feeling ornate.
The base retains layered historic paint, with traces of original red beneath a later cream overpaint, creating rich texture and depth. The stretcher construction and hand-shaped profiles reinforce its rural farmhouse origin
