An incredible example of a western Canadian sleep bench in perfect first  paint in untouched as found condition . Most likely found in Saskatchewan  this is  a great example  and   definitely one of the best known..  Very strong Canadian collectors have owned this piece for many years. 

Provenance on the bench: 

From Nicole Alio (Collection): We bought this item around 20 years ago from the antique dealer Jim Fleming of Ontario who had had it in his collection for many years. The Fleming family was extremely knowledgeable about Canadian antiques. Jim was the brother of John Fleming who wrote a respected book about Quebec painted furniture. This lift top sleep bench is  from Western Canada, possibly Saskatchewan or Alberta, and of Ukrainian style.
