Description
This early 20th century English occasional table is crafted from solid mahogany and features elegant tapered legs joined by a refined curved stretcher. The square top retains its original surface with gentle wear consistent with age, lending warmth and authenticity.
Influenced by Georgian and Sheraton forms, the table’s restrained proportions and fine detailing make it highly versatile — ideal as a lamp table, side table, or accent piece in both traditional and modern interiors.
Produced by Imperial Furniture of Grand Rapids, Michigan—one of America’s leading furniture-making centers during the early 20th century—this piece dates to approximately circa 1918–1935. It retains its original Mahogany Association, Inc. certification label, issued under penalty contract, guaranteeing that all exposed structural parts and veneered surfaces are constructed of genuine mahogany sourced from the West Indies, Tropical America, and West Africa. Such certification was reserved for higher-grade furniture of the period and reflects an era when material authenticity and craftsmanship were strictly regulated.
