Description
Acquired from a private collection.
A beautifully proportioned early 20th-century American Arts & Crafts oak smoking stand, crafted in richly grained quarter-sawn oak. The hinged top opens to a compartment designed for storing tobacco, cigars, or smoking accessories, making this a classic parlour or library form from the Mission era.
The stand features turned legs with square block details, a molded apron, and a strong plinth base — a perfect balance of decorative turning and the honest, architectural lines associated with the Arts & Crafts movement. Both functional and sculptural, it works equally well today as a side pedestal, plant stand, or statement accent piece.
This piece would make a great plant stand.
Circa 1900–1915. American.
