Description
An exceptional hand-carved oak fireplace mantel and overmantel dating to 1893. This monumental architectural piece features richly carved foliate ornament, Gothic-inspired arches, pierced fretwork, and deeply sculpted Renaissance Revival detailing throughout.
Standing approximately 10 feet tall and 7 feet wide, the mantel was salvaged decades ago from a Southern California demolition and has remained in a private collection for over 25 years. The extraordinary scale and craftsmanship suggest it was originally commissioned for a prominent residence, hotel, lodge, or institutional building during the height of the Victorian era.
The warm oak patina, extensive hand carving, and impressive architectural presence make this a remarkable focal point for a grand interior, restoration project, or commercial space.
A rare opportunity to acquire a surviving example of late 19th-century architectural craftsmanship on a truly monumental scale.
