acquired from a private collection in Vancouver.

A substantial late 19th century Victorian mahogany cylinder roll-top secretary bookcase, dating to circa 1880–1895.

Constructed in two parts, the upper glazed bookcase sits above a beautifully proportioned cylinder desk featuring its original tambour roll front. The interior reveals a fitted arrangement of satinwood-toned drawers, gothic-arched pigeonholes, and a central cabinet over a leather writing surface.

Richly grained mahogany throughout, accented by original brass hardware and traditional locking mechanisms. The lower cabinet offers additional enclosed storage, completing the architectural composition.

Elegant yet functional — a commanding period desk with warmth, scale, and presence.
