Monumental Italian Mid-Century Modern chandelier attributed to Paolo Venini and produced in Murano, Italy.

The dramatic cascading design is constructed from numerous elongated clear glass elements arranged in graduated tiers around a central framework. The tiers descend in a twisting spiral, creating a highly sculptural form with considerable presence.

When illuminated, the vertically ribbed glass refracts and diffuses the light throughout the fixture, emphasizing both the scale and movement of the design.

An exceptional statement chandelier suited to a large entry, stairwell, hotel, restaurant, or other interior requiring a substantial architectural light fixture.

Salvaged from a mansion in Vancouver built in 1935.

Although Venini was educated to be a lawyer, his family had been in the glassmaking business in Italy since the 18th century. In 1921, after practicing law in Milan for a short time, he bought a partnership in a Murano glass firm, establishing his own Venini and Company four years later.
