Description
Acquired from a private collection
A classic English Regency Revival convex mirror dating to the early 20th century, featuring the iconic spread-wing eagle crest and traditional giltwood construction.
Often referred to as a bullseye or girandole mirror, this form originated in early 19th-century England and remained a favorite in refined interiors. The circular convex glass is surrounded by a gilt frame adorned with applied spherical ornaments, flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves, and crowned with a detailed eagle — a symbol associated with Regency decorative arts.
The convex glass creates a wide reflective field, making the mirror both sculptural and functional, ideal for adding light and architectural interest to interiors. The warm aged gilding and crisp carved details give this piece strong decorative presence while maintaining period character.
