Description

Antique solid wood architectural door dating to approximately 1870–1890, sourced in New York City.

The door features a tall arched upper opening surrounded by substantial molded trim, with a raised rectangular panel below. The design is characteristic of late 19th-century New York townhouse and brownstone architecture, with strong Italianate and Victorian influences.

Of particular interest is the untouched painted surface. Layers of worn brown and earlier green paint remain throughout, creating an exceptionally good naturally aged surface with extensive wear, losses and exposed earlier paint.

The upper opening is currently unglazed and could be fitted with clear, textured or mirrored glass depending on its intended use.

A strong piece of original New York architectural salvage suitable for installation or use as a decorative architectural element.
