Description
Exceptional example of a marine searchlight made by Rayline. Salvaged from a ship in Victoria BC. This is a General Electric (GE) Novalux Projector or Floodlight, a vintage industrial or nautical light made of copper and brass.
"Rayline" is a brand name used for marine searchlights, often manufactured by Jabsco or historically by The Portable Light Co., rather than a company named "Rayline Marine Products Ltd". "The Portable Light Co." was an American company that manufactures specialized lighting, including the "One Mile Ray" searchlight, which was a high-powered, portable electric light used for military and civilian applications like railroad and maritime use. The term "portable light" generally refers to any hand-held, movable lighting device, from historical torches to modern LED flashlights and rechargeable lamps.
