Description

An elegant late Victorian mantel clock by the renowned Ansonia Clock Company of New York, dating to the turn of the twentieth century. Crafted in a beautifully carved oak case with flowing Art Nouveau ornamentation, this clock features an original Roman numeral paper dial, visible escapement, etched glass door, and eight-day time and strike movement.

Founded in New York in the mid-19th century, Ansonia became one of America’s most respected clock manufacturers, producing quality clocks that combined reliable movements with stylish cabinet designs. This example is representative of the company’s transition from Victorian exuberance into the graceful Art Nouveau aesthetic.
