Description
A finely woven Northwest Coast Indigenous cedar-root basket dating from the early twentieth century. Constructed using traditional coiled weaving techniques, the basket features a fitted lid and geometric decoration rendered in natural and dyed fibers.
The warm coloration and tight, consistent weave reflect the remarkable skill of Indigenous basket makers of the Pacific Northwest, where cedar-root weaving traditions have been practiced for generations. The oval form and fitted lid suggest practical household use while also displaying the artistry associated with ceremonial and decorative basketry.
not perfect but a legitimate artifact. Priced accordingly.
Today the basket serves equally well as a decorative object, collector’s piece, or example of Indigenous craftsmanship from the Pacific Northwest.
