Description
An exceptional monumental French Henri II Revival carved oak buffet cabinet dating to the late nineteenth century. Crafted on an impressive architectural scale, this remarkable piece features a richly carved hunting-themed crest incorporating a stag’s head, hunting dog, scrolling foliage, and woodland motifs above a glazed display section.
The lower cabinet is adorned with finely executed carvings of game birds, acorns, and foliate ornament framed by fluted columns and elegantly curved side cupboards. Hand-cut dovetailed drawers, solid oak construction, and outstanding craftsmanship throughout reflect the quality associated with French cabinetmaking of the period.
Offering substantial storage behind paneled doors and display space above, this estate-scale cabinet serves as both a functional furnishing and a commanding decorative statement. Equally at home in a country estate, hunting lodge, luxury hospitality setting, winery, or distinguished residential interior.
The rich original patina and exceptional carving quality make this one of the finest examples of late nineteenth-century French hunting furniture we have handled.
