Description

Price per light

Distinctive early electric uplight pendants featuring deep brass bowls with stepped rims, curved metal support straps and elongated chain suspension. Shaped brass ceiling canopies complete the fixtures, while warm patination and contrasting darker fittings emphasize their architectural character.

The open bowls direct light toward the ceiling, creating reflected, indirect illumination. Their simple forms suit period interiors, hallways, dining spaces and hospitality settings.

About National X-Ray Reflector Co.
The support straps bear the stamped wording “EYE-COMFORT SYSTEM,” supporting an attribution to National X-Ray Reflector Co. of Chicago. The company advertised this system in the early twentieth century as a means of reducing glare by directing light toward the ceiling. Period designs incorporated silvered glass reflectors concealed within decorative metal or glass bowls. These fixtures appear to retain their outer brass bowls without the internal glass reflectors; an exact catalogue model has not been confirmed.
