Description

A striking antique French fireplace mantel in richly coloured red marble, distinguished by white veining, darker mineral markings, and finely shaped architectural details. The warm colour and substantial proportions give this surround a strong presence, while its flowing lines bring elegance to the design.

Executed in the Louis XV style, the mantel features a shaped, moulded shelf above a serpentine frieze centred by an oval cartouche. Panelled jambs with curved profiles, carved scroll details, and substantial block feet complete the composition. The carving allows the natural variation of the marble to remain a defining feature.

An expressive architectural piece for a period restoration or a contemporary interior, equally suited to framing a fireplace or creating a decorative focal point beneath a mirror or artwork.
