Its architectural form features a steeply pitched and shaped roof, pierced Gothic trefoil motifs, tapered central spire and distinctive curled ornamentation at the crown.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFour large glass panels surround the interior, while the original-style removable circular oil reservoir and burner fit into the base of the lantern. The surviving oil-burning components add considerably to the character and completeness of the piece.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe design is strongly influenced by the English Gothic Revival movement of the Victorian period. It may originally have been intended for an entrance, vestibule, covered exterior location or institutional setting.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eParticularly appealing is the untouched surface. The painted metal shows appropriate wear, losses, oxidation and variation accumulated through more than a century of use.
