1930 Simmons Metal "Low Boy" Dresser Cabinet

1930 Simmons Metal "Low Boy" Dresser Cabinet

Original  c. 1930's American depression era cold-rolled furniture sheet steel Simmons "low boy" dresser fabricated by the Simmons mfg. Co., Kenosha, Wis.

The stationary dresser was likely used in industrial and commercial settings like a hospital or hotel .

The arch top swivel mirror with intact mirrored glass and stamped steel frame is original and in great overall condition. the multiple pull-out drawers retains the original round knobs.  A brushed metal finish has been treated with a clear coat lacquer to prevent surface corrosion.

"In 1928 the Simmons Company commissioned Bel Geddes to design enameled metal bedroom furniture that was first sold in 1932. Simmons apparently continued to manufacture metal furniture in the same style after Bel Geddes’ commission ended. Because of this, many pieces of ’30s-era metal Simmons bedroom furniture are misidentified as Bel Geddes.
